City Campus came about as a result of collaboration between the principals of six Launceston schools (Queechy High, Riverside High, Brooks High, Prospect High, Kings Meadows High and Newstead College).

The school is based on the Big Picture learning philosophy of teaching one student at a time and offering learning both in the classroom and the wider community.
